|Description:||Our Security Officers perform functions that can be categorized as either static or patrol-oriented. Static duties are activities that the Security Officer performs from a single place, usually a fixed post or location, such as a gatehouse or the entrance to a building lobby. Patrol duties are activities that the Security Officer performs within a specific location, building, and/or complex, and may include foot, vehicle, or bike patrols on a given route to observe conditions.|
The Security Officer’s primary goal is the identification and prevention of situations that might put the client at risk, such as:
•To reduce the opportunity for crime, theft and vandalism.
•To assist the police with information during the investigation of a crime.
•To implement the company’s emergency preparedness plan in the even of an environmental disaster.
•To assist the company’s health and safety officer/First Aid attendant in the event of an accident or medical emergency.
•To perform safety checks/audits and to correct or take steps to correct any safety or security hazards.
This is achieved through any or all of the following tasks:
•Building and perimeter protection
•Intrusion and access control
•Alarm and surveillance system monitoring and response
•Fire prevention and control
•Emergency/disaster response as stipulated in the company’s emergency plan
•Prevention of theft
•Enforcement of rules, regulations and policies
In summary, Security Officers are generally responsible for:
Protecting buildings and grounds (including all contents, occupants, customers, and visitors) by enforcing rules and regulations related to security at the location, and directing both foot and vehicular traffic in and around the location.
Being familiar with all relevant special and general orders
Supervising and enforcing all systems designed to monitor or identify personnel and vehicles entering the location
Conducting inspections of packages and vehicles as required
Controlling the movement of people, products, and vehicles into, out of, and within the location
Conducting and reviewing safety inspections of all areas of the location disruptions to the business; mitigating risks that could affect the day-to-day operations of a facility.
Recording information pertaining to the security of people, products, and vehicles, and reporting this to the security supervisor or, where so designated, the client’s representative
|Duties:||Any or all of the following may be required of our staff:|
•Ensure the integrity and proper operating condition of all installed security system. Reports abnormal conditions to Supervisor.
•Brief and debrief other security staff to pass along pertinent business related information.
•Learn to patrol campus and buildings, monitoring for conditions or situations which pose a risk to the safety/security of people and/or property or are in violation of company policy.
•Document and reports all daily activities and incidents in the Security Reporting Database.
•Learn to monitor PC based monitoring systems and electronic equipment at Security Station (e.g. Security Access Control System, CCTV, Environmental Management and Control systems, and the fire alarm systems.
•Document and maintain study-related data relating to environmental conditions for Environmental Monitoring Systems.
•Provide prompt notification to on-call technicians or administrative personnel to resolve any problems that may arise.
•Attend all required training programs and meetings.
•Learn to monitor and maintain status of Fire Alarm panel and take appropriate action in response to alarms.
•Follow the Post Orders for the assigned Security Station.
•Respond to emergencies in accordance with company policy (e.g., medical, chemical spills, fire evacuations).
•Enforce company policies, especially Security and Environmental, Health and Safety.
•Maintain a positive and professional attitude and appearance at all times.
•Check personnel, contractors, service technicians, and vendors for proper authorization to facilities and for contraband.
•Learn to receive after business hour deliveries of packages and mail, document, and store appropriately.
•Perform security function in accordance with company and departmental guidelines and polices.
•Demonstrate a high level of customer service to co-workers as well as internal and external customers and vendors and directing them to the resource that will best meet their need.
•Answer and relay incoming calls to personnel designated by the caller or by the nature of the inquiry without compromising company or employee confidentiality.
•Perform all other duties as assigned.
|Qualifications:||•Requires High school diploma or equivalent.|
•Ability to read and record information accurately.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•Demonstrated quality and customer service skills.
•Obtain a CA BSIS Guard Card (Assistance Available).
